Anyone who is a blogger will know the truth about online friendships.. that they are every bit as ‘real’ as an IRL (in real life) friendship!
For me, it actually went a step further. I find it comfort in the relative anonymity the internet affords to let my hair down and be myself! Of course, many people take this as a license to post nasty comments, but on the whole the blogging community is a very supportive, friendly and nice place to be!
If you remember my earlier post about this wonderful Indian women’s blogging community called Indiblogeshwaris, you will know what I am talking about! The brainchild of Vinita Bahl, who blogs are Blogwati G, that post celebrated the first anniversary of the group.
In another fun and endearing exercise, the admins of the group decided to start a chain mail participation for all the members. So, the 3 admins each selected a member each. That member was sent a small gift and a handwritten note. Those 3 members in turn would select another member to send a gift and note too, and so it will continue until the end of the year, when the admins would be sent the last note and gift!
My turn came pretty fast and I was lucky enough to be selected by a dear, sweet Blogeshwari, Pooja Abhay, who blogs at Thoughtless Ramifications, and who recently also started a food blog at Pooja’s Cafe! (Do check them out!) Pooja and I hit it off at the very start! The wonderful nostalgic feeling of receiving such a wonderful, long letter after so many decades still hasn’t left me!
Thanks so much, Pooja, and thank you, Indiblogeshwaris!
